Grady’s mom first noticed Grady walking around her neighborhood in November 2022. He looked rough, scared and cold. That was a bitterly cold winter!
Grady’s mom was already feeding two feral neighborhood kitties and soon Grady began showing up at her door also. She could watch him through the glass and felt strongly that he needed help. His ears were frostbitten and bleeding. His fur was matted and missing in spots. He was starving too.
The caretaker was familiar with Forgotten Felines Rescue Denver because we had helped trap, neuter and release feral cats in the neighborhood, so she reached out for help with Grady. We trapped him in February 2023. Unsurprisingly, he was not chipped or neutered.
By this time, his new mom was already pretty attached to him although she hadn’t even touched him yet. After seeing the vet, Grady stayed in a small room to recuperate. At first, he would hiss at everyone and run into his carrier, but eventually he started to trust his new human, and started hiding less and less.
Little by little, he became accustomed to his new family and now he’s the biggest lover boy!
His mama says: “He’s so funny and I feel incredibly lucky that he picked me. He makes me laugh every day and he’s best pals with my cat, Axel. He talks to me with chirps and trills. He’s always up for playtime and he wants to be on my lap or in my arms otherwise, purring away. He loves to pose for photos and people tell me he looks like he’s smiling in his photos.”
Most might feel like Grady is the luckiest cat, but his mama promises that she’s the really lucky one in this story.
