From 2011 through October 2024, FFR has helped more than 8,300 cats, finding homes for more than 2,500 through our foster/adoption program of dedicated foster moms/dads, or through the adoption programs of rescues/shelters whom we have developed relationships with. Here are a few of our favorite success stories.

Artemis and Thalia
We rescued Artemis from a home with another 30 cats in it. She was approximately three years old, but when we found her, she still looked like a kitten. To our surprise, Artemis was pregnant and went into labor shortly after she was in her foster home. She delivered her five babies. Unfortunately, even though Artemis took amazing care of her babies, four passed away. Thalia remained her sole surviving kitten, a beautiful, spunky, strong, healthy baby girl.
Grady
Grady’s mom was already feeding two feral neighborhood kitties and soon Grady began showing up at her door also. She could watch him through the glass and felt strongly that he needed help. His ears were frostbitten and bleeding. His fur was matted and missing in spots. He was starving too. The caretaker was familiar with Forgotten Felines Rescue Denver because we had helped trap, neuter and release feral cats in the neighborhood, so she reached out for help with Grady. We trapped him in February 2023. By this time, his new mom was already pretty attached to him although she hadn’t even touched him yet.
Bubba
An elderly caretaker had been feeding two fixed feral cats for many years, but called us to say she was selling her house and could not continue to feed them. We met with her before she moved, and she told us about three new cats at the colony whom she had witnessed being dropped off from a moving car. While we believed Bubba (one of the abandoned cats) was tame, he was initially unresponsive to any attention. One of our volunteers who had been assisting the elderly caretaker stepped up to the challenge. He said he wanted to work with Bubba to try to make a difference in his life.
The Pasta Paisanos
This litter of five was found in the fall of 2023 along with more than 60 other cats (a total of 17 kittens) off of Colfax Ave. The adult cats not tame enough to become pets were seen by veterinarians, vaccinated and spayed or neutered, and released back into their colony (TNR). The 17 kittens, including the five Pasta Paisanos, Gemelli (Gemy), Rigatoni (Tony), Ravioli (Lola), Orichette (Chet) and Fettuchini (Chino), stayed with mama until they were old enough to be weaned, and off they went to various foster homes to be socialized, vaccinated, spayed and neutered, microchipped and eventually adopted.
Sauron (formerly Tiny)
Tiny and her siblings were found by a volunteer in Eastern Colorado when she heard cries coming from a storage shed. There she found four three-week-old kittens under an unused refrigerator. The whole litter was very ill; each kitten had eye infections, upper respiratory infections and intestinal parasites. Unfortunately, despite treatment, one of Tiny’s eye infections did not completely heal and her vet recommended that we remove the eye which had ulcerated and ruptured. She recovered well though, and was adopted with her sister Ethyl (formerly Goober).
The Honeymooners
Meet the Honeymooners, Trixie (shorthair snowshoe Siamese) and Ralphie (gray tuxie)! As kittens, they were found by Forgotten Felines Rescue volunteers at two different feral colonies in the Denver area. Since they were only a few weeks old, they were good candidates to leave their lives on the street forever and become loving pets, so they were brought to the same foster home to be socialized, spayed and neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. When they met, it was love at first sight, and the babies immediately bonded.
